Star Battle 3.0 Release Data Announced:
Zedu, the creator of Star Battle, has announced that the Star Battle 3.0 update will be released August 19th, at 21:00 CET (3:00 PM EST). It is still possible that technical difficulties could cause the date to slip again, but it’s good to have a date. Closed beta testing continues.
CN3 Tournament Results:
The third Chinese Starbattle tournament took place this past weekend on the Chinese server, with significant visits by players from outside China, thanks to the Spawning mechanic on Battle.net. Eclipsis in Taiwan took first place, beating Team 21Zt Fleet 2-0 in the finals. Reports are that there was less lag than last time, and that the format ran smoothly. A big thanks from the Star Battle community to the hosts, especially Puilam, who was pivotal for getting EU and NA players onto the CN servers.
TSL Season 2 Announced:
The Terran Starbattle League will be starting its second season in October 2013! The league is planned to run in the 3.0 version of Star Battle, with registration towards the end of September. More announcements are likely after NA10.
Map Hacking Controversy:
Evidence has been posted to the forums (in the Community) section, accusing a well-known member of the community of map-hacking to gain an advantage in tournaments. There has been some acrimony and bad blood as a result of this. At the Starbattle News Team, we’d just like to remind everyone the importance of civility and caution when dealing with such serious (at least in Star Battle terms) subject matter. Zedu has determined that the present evidence is not sufficient for official action at this time.
