Greetings from the LearnStarBattle News Team! This space will be used to keep the player base informed of community, in-game, and event developments.
Organized Play is back!
On NA, clan-based play is making a resurgence. With QQQ’s restart trick to reduce the rate of drops, and upcoming tournaments on the horizon (see below for more), organized games are on the rise. Sick of playing pub games where 3 people drop each time? Try an in-house! In-houses this week included Cookie, Eclipsis, Praxeum, Skillosophy, Space Sharks, and We Nuke N Run.
2013 Summer Fun Tournament
EU Player TheVoid is hosting a fun tournament this upcoming weekend. Registration is now closed, but the host is actively seeking streamers to help bring the action to the wider Starbattle audience. (Loko has already volunteered, but there will be many games, so more streamers would be appreciated). Streaming info will be posted to http://www.thetsl.org/index.php/streams when it has been organized– likely on the day of the tournament if this one follows standard form.
The format is double-elimination until the finals, which will be BO3. Every ship must be random! There will be a 5 minute break to formulate a strategy after ships are picked. The tournament will be held July 13, 15:00-19:00 UTC (2PM-6pm EST). If more time is needed, it will continue in the same time slot on July 14th.
Further over the horizon, Riker, gster, Lullard and TheVoid are working together to host NA10, an officially supported Starbattle tournament intended to run before the 3.0 update. Further details have not yet been released, but all signs are that they are hard at work to create something good.
We welcome new clan 1 Vocem to the TeamSpeak 3 server! They’ve risen from the ranks of public games, and are (as their name suggests) learning to create stronger team cohesion. They admire the established Star Battle Clans, and are looking forward to raising their game. They love the push, they love the chase, and they love the thrill of the more organized games.
