Patch 3.51 Zedu released a new patch today to address balance concerns. This patch strengthened counters to the carrier, weakened the carrier itself, and added several strengthening features to the leviathan. Missile pods gained 25 damage versus light units, which will make it more relevant against onboard fighters despite its difficulty to aim. At the same time, warp-in was lengthened to a 40 second cooldown (from 30), to decrease the rate at which a carrier can replenish minions in the face of dedicated interceptor and scout killing builds. The cloak delay on frigate wraiths was decreased to 1.5 from 2. Finally, corruptors gained an armor bonus per upgrade to help them battle the much more durable interceptors. The leviathan’s passives were reworked to provide more durability. Adaptive plating’s effects now depend on leviathan life: +25% armor when life is between 60%-80% +50% armor when life is between 40%-60% (Battlecruiser scaling) +75% armor when life is
WSBT 3 Results 27 teams from around the world competed in Starbattle last weekend as part of the second Swarm of Hearts Starcraft 2 Arcade tournament. Congratulations to world champions 21-Zero, many of whose players are earning their first gold stars after multiple consistent second and third place showings. This is truly a team that has worked its way to the top. Congratulations to second place Red Alert, whose tight coordination and epic nuke-splashing abilities made the last 5 games they played nail-bitingly close. Congratulations to third place Decisive Eclipsis, whose well-coordinated center play gave them the decisive push even against compositions they seemingly should’ve been contained by. Congratulations to fourth place 7th Fleet, whose persistent warp tricks made them a constant threat to all comers. So far the Starcraft Arcade community has donated $1,163.75 to Doctors without Borders, and it’s not too late for you to show your appreciation too.

Patch 3.43 Zedu released patch 3.43 last week. This patch includes a new map editor, which is a separate map from Star Battle. (Search the arcade for “Star Battle Map Editor” and use the map that’s by Zedu.) Setting the map in lobby settings to “custom” in that map will allow you to load a created map. For the regular game, the colossus gained new utility against support ships to enhance its late-game viability. Thermal lance now destroys point defense drones, and a passive field disruptor allows it to destroy force fields. The frigate’s maximum mine count was increased to 60. Point defense drone got a minor change, scaling its energy starting amount and requirements down by a factor of two, effectively doubling its long-term energy regeneration.

TSL Regular Season Concludes TSL ran its final matches two weekends ago, and though the top four haven’t shifted, there have been some dramatic results in the final few weeks. Red Alert still holds first place, but not unopposed. 7th Fleet took a 2-1 series off them in week 9, bringing 7th to 5th place overall– very respectable, but one shy of qualifying for the finals. Second place Eclipsis faced a difficult battle against third place Due Prejudice in week 10, and secured their place in the finals with a 2-1 win, including the defeat of a dramatic fighter launch cheese build. Team 21-Zero slides into 4th place, with their most contested end-season match being against 6th-place Skillosophy, which they won 2-1. Cookie, which showed so much promise at the season start, ended in 7th place. Unwanted took 8th place, Lucky Punch 9th, Praxeum 10th, and Mortal Legion brought up the bottom of the league.
